I guess it was just a matter of time before the RROD hit me. After almost 3 years of gaming my 360, it finally happened. I was playing Mass Effect a couple of weeks ago when my system froze. I shut off the system but when I restarted it froze again on the 360 intro scene. I shut it off and on and saw the RROD. In denial, I shut the system off and waited a while (got on my PC instead). When I went back, the system worked. phew. Close call.

Fast forward a few weeks. I go back to play Mass Effect and it freezes a few minutes into the game. Uh oh. I did exactly what had worked last time but the RROD persisted.

I have put in for a coffin to ship it back to MS to get it repaired. So sad. I’m in withdrawal now staring at my RROD’ed 360 jonesing for some Mass Effect controversial action.

Were you expecting it? Cuz I sure wasn’t! Regardless, John Rambo is set to return in 2008.

My prediction: this will be like Live Free or Die Hard but probably not as good. Considering Live Free was just okay, that isn’t saying much.

The one liners are there. The attitude is there. But the man is older now and it shows.

The jury is out on this one but I’m betting it’ll be like returning to Rocky. The magic is gone. Let the classics lie.

Yeah. . . so I saw Beowulf at the theater last weekend. My impression?

Fun.

The CGI animation is impressive and the music really works well in giving Beowulf a larger than life heroic persona. I like the music so much I’ve converted it to my ringtone. Wish I could get it on CD or download the MP3. :/

The only thing that makes Beowulf more heroic are his own words:

“They say you have a monster here. They say your lands are cursed. I am Beowulf. . . I will kill your monster.”

and who can forget

“I am ripper. Terror. Mine is strength. And lust. And power. I. AM. BEOWULF!!”

Each time Grendel (the said monster) attacks, the tension is palpable. There is raunchy humor. There is undoubtedly action. And in the end, you see Beowulf for what he is - a man.
